Tiles
Interactive Projection-Mapped Installation
Commissioned by: Moody Center
Location: Austin, Texas
Year: 2026

Tiles is an interactive projection-mapped installation that transforms a backstage corridor at Moody Center into a responsive environment of color, light, and motion. Inspired by illuminated dance floors and geometric tile patterns, the work creates a playful interactive experience within a space typically used for circulation and access.
As visitors move through the corridor, projected tiles react to their presence, generating expanding patterns and shifting compositions that evolve continuously through interaction. Individual movements create localized responses while groups of people collectively shape the larger visual environment, producing a constantly changing field of light across the floor.
The installation was developed as part of a permanent architectural projection system designed by the artist for the venue. While the larger projection environment supports a variety of visual content, Tiles functions as a standalone interactive artwork that encourages participation, exploration, and spontaneous engagement within the backstage space.
