Tall Grasses
Interactive Light Installation
Commissioned by: Georgetown Glow
Location: Washington, DC
Year: 2019
Originally commissioned for Georgetown Glow and later adapted for presentation by Jackson Hole Public Art in Jackson, Wyoming.

Tall Grasses reimagines common grasses as illuminated forms that respond dynamically to their surrounding environment. Inspired by the movement of natural grasses shifting in the wind, the installation creates a softly animated landscape of light that changes continuously through motion, color, and interaction.
The installation consists of individually standing illuminated forms ranging between three and six feet in height. Each element contains custom electronics, sensors, and independently controlled lighting systems that respond in real time to environmental conditions and nearby movement, allowing the sculpture to behave as a living field of light.
